More details have come in on Hammer Films’ return to horror, Beyond the Rave, an episodic series being prepped for the web that will introduce a whole new generation to the Hammer brand before the company embarks on feature film productions.
Paul Grass Films will produce “Rave,” which was created by Tom Grass. Music video and commercial director Matthias Hoene will direct.
The story concerns a soldier named Ed who, on the eve of being deported to Iraq, sets out, with his pal Necro, to find his girlfriend. It seems she was last seen partying it up with an odd bunch led by some dude named Melech. When Ed and Necro finally catch up to her at a rave in the woods, he learns he is in the company of bloodsuckers and Melech has plans for this party’s guests.
The cast includes Nora-Jane Noone (The Descent), Jamie Dornan (Marie-Antoinette), Tamer Hassan (The Ferryman), Sebastian Knapp (28 Days Later), Les Simpson (Doomsday), Lois Winstone (When Evil Calls) and Steve Sweeney (Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels). Furthermore, Hammer honey Ingrid Pitt is expected to cameo (natch) alongside Sadie Frost (Bram Stoker’s Dracula) and singer Phil Bush (of The Cazals).
Producer Ben Grass says, “‘Beyond the Rave’ was inspired by Tom and my own experiences of raves: the great highs, and the demons that can lurk in the dark before dawn. It’s jam packed with great characters and encounters. The narrative hurtles along to a big, juicy conclusion, and all along it’s peppered with great tunes and visceral action.”

Ulster-born Calvin Klein model and actor Jamie Dornan is to star in a new movie alongside legendary British actress Jean Simmons. The Belfast man plays opposite the Hollywood actress in The Wreck – which is set in a remote house on the Norfolk coast in the 1960s. Jamie (25) plays Joe, who strikes up a friendship with Simmons’ character Hannah, bringing her cannabis to ease the pain she suffers from her long illness. When her son Robert visits, he is shocked by Hannah’s intimacy with Joe and is deeply suspicious of his motives.
Now in his second major movie role, Jamie worked with the Oscar-winning director Sofia Coppola. It is understood Simmons (78) was cast by writer and director David Rocksavage for the role. The actress has starred in numerous films and has played opposite Laurence Olivier, Richard Burton, Marlon Brando and Gregory Peck as well as matinee idol Stewart Granger, whom she married in 1950. Her acting credits include two Oscar nominations, although she is probably best known for her roles as Estella in Great Expectations and Varinia, the slave girl in Spartacus.
Filming has already got under way at locations in Norfolk and locals have been invited to play extras.
Dornan is also a musician, playing in the folk band, Sons of Jim, with fellow Belfast man David Alexander. Considered one of the top male models in the world, he dated actress Keira Knightley for two years and has also been linked with Mischa Barton, Kate Moss and Sienna Miller. Despite being a successful model, Dornan has always been keen to become an actor. Last year he got his big break when he landed his role in Sofia Coppola’s movie Marie Antoinette.

Jean Simmons and James Wilby (“Gosford Park”) will star in 1960s set family drama “The Wreck.”
Simmons plays Hannah, an elderly widower living in a large, remote house in East Anglia, England, who develops a close relationship with a mysterious young man who brings her cannabis to ease the pain of a long illness. Tensions develop when Hannah’s son (Wilby) and children come to visit and question the motives of the loner.
Simmons was Oscar nommed in 1948 for Laurence Olivier’s “Hamlet” and again in 1969 for Richard Brooks’ “The Happy Ending.” The pic also stars former Calvin Klein model Jamie Dornan (“Marie Antoinette”) and newcomers Ophelia Lovibond and Toby Marlow. “The Wreck” is a Giant Films/Seashell production. It reps the second feature from David Rocksavage following “Other Voices, Other Rooms” (1995).
Nick O’Hagan produces and Ivan Mactaggart exec produces the pic, which is based on a screenplay by Rocksavage and Margaret Glover.

Aquascutum has drafted Gisele Bündchen and Irish actor Jamie Dornan for its latest global ad campaign, which was shot at one of Britain’s most notorious stately homes. The cinema-inspired ads were photographed on location at Cliveden, the former home of the Astor family and the famous backdrop to the Profumo Affair — the political and sex scandal that rocked Britain in the early Sixties. Mario Sorrenti snapped the pictures that, appropriately, depict “a weekend of stolen moments, intrigue and trysts,” according to Aquascutum president and chief executive Kim Winser. “Gisele and Jamie are the perfect pairing to communicate our creative vision for the new season.” During her wicked weekend at Cliveden, Bündchen wears one of five coats from Aquascutum Vintage, a new collection based on vintage Aquascutum designs worn by Hollywood heroines including Audrey Hepburn, Lauren Bacall and Sophia Loren — but presumably not Profumo maiden Christine Keeler. The campaign will break in the August issue of L’Uomo Vogue and later in the September issues of magazines including Tatler, British Vogue and Harper’s Bazaar.
